How to send a test
1
Open the test dialog
From the campaign editor or the campaign detail page, select Send Test to open the test send dialog.
2
Enter recipient addresses
Enter one or more email addresses to receive the test. You can send to your own address, a shared inbox, or a group of reviewers.
3
Send the test
Click Send Test. SendWhale dispatches the test email immediately to every address you entered.
What to check in your test email
Open the test in each email client your audience is likely to use and verify the following:- Subject line — displays correctly without truncation
- Preheader — the preview text appears as intended
- Images — all images load and display at the correct size
- Links — every button and text link goes to the right destination
- Mobile layout — columns stack and text sizes remain readable on small screens
- Footer — unsubscribe link and business address are present and formatted correctly
Test send behavior
- Test emails are sent immediately regardless of any schedule set on the campaign
- Sending a test does not change the campaign’s status — a draft remains a draft, and a scheduled campaign stays scheduled
- A successful test request means SendWhale accepted and dispatched the test — it does not guarantee delivery to the inbox, as that depends on the receiving mail server and spam filters
Sending tests to colleagues
Before sharing a test send with colleagues, remove any placeholder personal data, real customer information, real API keys, or other sensitive content from the campaign. Test emails travel through standard email infrastructure and should not carry production data.
